Teeth Whitening

Prior to the commencement of any treatment, we will conduct a thorough examination of your teeth and gums to ensure they are healthy. If any problems are diagnosed such as gum disease, tooth decay or cavities, they will need to be treated before your teeth are whitened.

For at home teeth whitening, soft whitening trays are fabricated to fit closely over your teeth to ensure close contact of the whitening gel with your teeth.

We will give you specific instructions on the use of the gel, the amount to apply to your trays and how long they should be worn. Your desired shade may take between 3–14 days to achieve depending on the kit, although a noticeable improvement should be evident after only a few days.

The whitening gel we choose to use has undergone extensive testing to ensure they’re completely safe. The only effect some patients may experience is mild sensitivity to hot and cold, this will often only last for several hours after the completion of treatment.

Should you experience tooth sensitivity while using the at home treatment, discontinue application for a few days. The use of desensitising toothpaste can alleviate the problem of sensitivity. If sensitivity continues, contact our practice immediately.
